How to travel from Kansai Airport (KIX) to Kyoto fastest

Kansai Airport(KIX) is located in the south of Osaka, so it is a little bit far from the center of Kyoto city.

 

There are several ways to get from Kansai Airport(KIX) to Kyoto by train, bus, taxi or car, but here introduction is limited to reservations for the express train named "Haruka." This train is the fastest, easiest, and most comfortable.

There are several main stations in Kyoto, so please notice.  

When you go to Kyoto from Kansai Airport, you may use Kyoto(京都) Station(JR / Subway Karasuma Line) or Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station(Hankyu Kyoto Line). 

The airport direct train HARUKA go to Kyoto Station. If you go to another station, you have to change train there.

 

JR(Japan Railway) Limited Express Train "HARUKA" is the best choice to travel to Kyoto city, because  you can travel directly to Kyoto Station, the central station of Kyoto, without having to transfer from Kansai Airport.

It takes 80 minutes from KIX to Kyoto.

 

 

 

This Limited Express Train "HARUKA" operated by JR, is the direct service train from KIX to Osaka and Kyoto. To use the Haruka train, you will need to pay an additional fee and to book before you take

If you have a "Japan Rail Pass", you can book your seat by this website or at a ticket office of each JR station.

The Haruka has three types of seat : non-reserved seats, "Ordinary Car" (reserved seats), and "Green car" meaning business class.
  1. [RECOMMENDED]Ordinary Car(Written above a green letter with "指") means reserved seats. It is possible to occupy a seat in a "reserved car" and there is no need to compete for a seat. [3,440yen]
  2. Green car meas a kind of business class seat. The quality of the seats is better than general seating, but it is difficult to say that the other services are upgraded.[4,210yen]
  3. Non-reserved seats is the cheapest option. Passengers having just Non-reserved ticket are not allowed to ride in reserved seat cars and green cars, and are permitted to sit only in available seats from among the "Non-reserved car". You can upgrade to a reserved seat or green car by paying the difference to the conductor.[3,110yen]
